We sat down with friends of ours who are also first time new boat buyers. Tim + Kate McGinnis are on a Seawind 1260 and Dale is on the Seawind 1600 Passagemaker with his wife Katrina. We’re sharing our learnings from the entire new boat buying process from purchase, to build, where to take delivery, importing, commissioning and warranty phase.

We're currently in Ft. Lauderdale gearing up for living off grid on our Seawind 1600 sailing catamaran. We'll soon be setting off for long term sailing in the Bahamas and Caribbean and are soo looking forward to boat life in the islands. But as you guys know, we love to cook and eat! This week we’re embarking on our longest offshore passage EVER on our own, on our Seawind 1600 catamaran. We're #sailing south from Solomons Island to Norfolk, Virginia then on to Charleston, South Carolina and finally onto Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

This week we’re casting the lines from Liberty Marina and the Sail Away Catamaran fam to begin our journey south to Florida. But before departing we visited the Annapolis Maritime Museum to learn more about the history of the Chesapeake Bay and its role as the lifeblood of the ecosystem where Annapolis has developed.

Plus the Seawind 1600 is nominated for Cruising World magazine’s 2022 boat of the year so we took the judges for a fantastic sail on Chesapeake Bay.

This week we're sailing our catamaran under the Newport bridge for the last time for the foreseeable future on to Annapolis via New York City. Taking with us sweet memories of friends, new and old, and experiences we’ll treasure for a lifetime.

We’re leaving the bucolic waters of The Basin in Casco Bay, sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran ultimately to Annapolis where we’ll have some boat work done to get Wanderlust ready for the Annapolis Sailboat Show. We're planning to make a number of stops along the way because we’re still waiting for our new autopilot RAM which we hope will be delivered to Newport, Rhode Island.

This week we’re sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran from Matinicus Island south to The Basin in Casco Bay, Maine. A magical salt water lake nestled in a nature preserve that’s part of the Maine Island Trail. A 375-mile water trail connecting over 240 wild islands and mainland sites in Maine.

This week we’re sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran from Mt. Desert Island to Matinicus, Maine's most remote island. 22 miles from Rockland, in the outer reaches of Penobscot Bay. A remote place steeped in tradition with many of the same families living there for generations.

For the past few weeks we've been sailing Maine and this week we’re enjoying boat life at its best on Mount Desert Island in protected Northeast Harbor. The quintessential Maine experience.

We have settled into sailing life in Maine on our Seawind 1600 catamaran and learned that you must live by nature’s rules out here. The tides and wind dictate everything. We are in awe of it all.

With Hurricane Henri barreling up the east coast we decided not to take any chances, nixed our plans to explore Casco Bay, and beelined it north, sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran first to Tenants Harbor, then to a protected mooring in Vinalhaven.

We’ve been dreaming of sailing in Maine for twenty years and it is finally becoming a reality. This week we’re sailing our #Seawind1600 catamaran from Gloucester, Massachusetts to the entrance of the Saco River in Maine. And what a sail it was, the most epic sail we’ve had to date going wing on wing downwind with the spinnaker and main!

This week we’re sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran 40 NM from Provincetown to Gloucester through the waters of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, the summer home to 3 major whale species, Humpback, Fin and Minke. We’re keeping our eyes peeled and our fingers crossed for a whale sighting.

This week we’re leaving Newport, destination Maine coast. Our autopilot isn’t working so we’re sailing our catamaran old school the entire way. First stop Hadley Harbor at the beginning of Cape Cod. Then on to Provincetown via the Cape Cod canal, where we explore this gem of a town and have our first encounter with gray seals, a favorite snack for the famed great white shark.
