We’re sailing 1200 miles from Fiji to New Zealand. Strict Biosecurite regulations for our dog Yoda leaves us with only a 5 day departure window. Reputed to be one of the most unpredictable passages in the world, we set sail even though Fabio has pneumonia.

After months exploring Fiji and cyclone season closing in, we have just a short window to prepare Wanderlust, stock up on provisions, and get Yoda cleared before setting sail on a 1,200 nm passage to New Zealand—one of the most unpredictable crossings in the world. 

Sailing 70 miles upwind in rain and fog, we’re chasing a rare weather window to reach one of Fiji’s most remote gems—Vanua Balavu, the Northern Lau.
